The Inspired Home: Interiors of Deep Beauty

Author(s): Karen Lehrman Bloch

Interior Design

Our homes have a profound effect on our minds, bodies, and spirits. A home that works is deeply restorative and can even embolden and inspire. It is not just a physical space in which to put our things or a shelter to protect us from the elements. It is a place so steeped in beauty that it has the capacity to transform us, to calm us and strengthen us, to help us put our values in order. In The Inspired Home, esteemed writer Karen Lehrman Bloch provides direct and practical advice to guide readers in creating beautiful, uplifting homes that are as warm and comfortable as they are elegant and inviting. To do this, she opens the doors to twenty-five of the most beautiful homes in the world, ones owned by fashion designers such as Donna Karan, who is contributing a foreword, Alberta Ferretti, and Consuelo Castiglioni, the founder of Marni, as well as top stylists and artists like Lori Goldstein and Michelle Oka Doner, and renowned interior designs like Darryl Carter, Vicente Wolf, and Juan Montoya. Through a dynamic mix of interior photographs of the homes, many of which are presented for the first time in this extraordinary volume, and one-on-one interviews with the designers and homeowners, Bloch reveals how readers can embrace nature's most essential rules, authenticity, simplicity, balance, surprise, and grandeur, along with their own unique abilities to feel visually, to transform their own homes into ones that are luxurious and inviting, as well as emotionally and spiritually uplifting. By following her advice readers will understand that it needn't be difficult or expensive to do so, and the unique shape and sizes of one's own home needn't be limiting. The Inspired Home will have a foreword by Donna Karan explaining why she invokes the same design principles in the book in her own clothing line. It will also be a magnificent package complete with gorgeous full-page photographs of the rooms and smaller shots of the individual elements.
