Author description

Brian Mertens is a Bangkok-based writer on Asian art and culture. Previously a resident of New York and Tokyo, he contributes to many international publications. In 1997 he was awarded the Citibank Prize for Excellence in Journalism. He co-authored Architecture of Thailand: A Guide to Traditional and Contemporary Forms. Robert McLeod is a Bangkok-based photographer whose work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, The New York Times Magazine, and Art & Antiques. Great-great grandson of the Victorian photographer Robert French, his work has been exhibited in New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney, Bangkok, and Vientiane.
