Description

Macca is absolutely passionate about his radio program "Australia All Over" and is equally enthusiastic about his legions of listeners. So he came up with the brilliant idea to take his show on the road, and the Say G'Day tour was born. With his producer Lee, Macca spent five months travelling in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia - meeting thousands of listeners young and old, in towns big and small, singing songs, reciting poems, having a laugh and a yarn as they went. SAY G'DAY catches the very best moments of the tour in words and pictures: through emails, blogs, diary entries, letters and phone calls. It s packed full of wonderful stories and is as engaging and entertaining as the show - and the man himself. A must for all Macca fans, the book also includes a bonus cd of interviews.

Author description

Born in Sydney, Macca graduated from Sydney University with an economics degree, but left the city to become a jackaroo. His career then took a major turn when he joined Col Joye and the Joye Boys as a singer/guitarist. Ian still manages to perform occasionally and is also a songwriter and producer. Ian first joined the ABC in 1974, in the Industrial Relations department but moved to the Rural Department two years later as a Rural Reporter. He then spent twelve months in television, working on A BIG COUNTRY, and COUNTRYWIDE, before returning to Rural Radio in 1980 as a reporter and eventually, presenter of AUSTRALIA ALL OVER.
