Descriptionn his latest body of work Somewhere in Jaffa, Israeli born Australian photographer Nathan Miller captures with great sensitivity the visually captivating environs and atmosphere of the Israeli city of Jaffa, along with the rhythms of daily life there from the perspective of its diverse population. He presents us with a nuanced portrait of a part of the world of which we have very little real understanding. Most significantly, Nathan challenges pre-conceptions and clichéd assumptions regarding the life of Arabs and Jews within Israel. This body of work reflects on Arabs and Jews living in one community. The photographs are accompanied by trilingual (English, Hebrew and Arabic) texts by Nathan and by Jaffa born Arab – Israeli social and political activist, Asma Agbarieh-Zahalka. |
